Overview

Alfa Eletro was a Brazilian retailer specialising in electronics and industrial automation components. This project delivered their full web presence: a public-facing product catalog backed by a VirtueMart shopping cart, a contact and quote flow, company and branch location pages, and a "Projetos Eletrônicos" (Electronic Projects) section.

The product range spanned two broad areas — discrete electronic components and industrial automation hardware. Categories included resistors, capacitors, diodes (through-hole and SMD), cables, connectors, power supplies, solid-state relays, relay couplers, signal converters, temperature controllers, temperature sensors, thermocouples, timers, potentiometers, and ventilation fans.

The site was built on Joomla! 1.5 with a custom template providing a three-column layout: left sidebar for category navigation, central content area for product listings, and a right column for promotions and banners. MooTools powered the interactive menus and product image lightboxes (Slimbox). A MySQL database backed the full product and order data, preserved in the repository as a SQL dump.

Highlights

Full product catalog & quote flow

I structured the retailer's entire inventory into dozens of browsable categories (resistors, sensors, converters, relays, controllers and more) backed by a VirtueMart cart and contact-driven quote requests, giving Alfa Eletro its first online sales channel beyond the phone and front counter and letting customers self-serve their product research around the clock.

Self-manageable CMS

I built a custom three-column template on Joomla 1.5 CMS so non-technical staff could add products, swap promotional banners and publish company pages through the admin panel without a developer, cutting content-update turnaround from days to minutes and removing an ongoing maintenance cost from the business.

Lead-routing & technical resource hub

I added per-branch commercial contact forms, a "Projetos Eletrônicos" downloads area (PhocaDownload) and location/shipping pages, routing each enquiry to the right sales rep and positioning the company as a technical reference that attracted qualified B2B leads rather than just walk-in traffic.
