This tip is to solve the problem of Windows Update not getting past 0 KB 0% on Windows 8, as shown in the image below:

Fixing this error is easy — you don't need to do anything, just wait. The problem is with the progress counter, but the download is actually happening.

Wait for the process to finish; at least that's how it worked for me!
